Exploring Tour of Baijiu (Chinese Spirits)

Exploring Tour of Baijiu (Chinese Spirits) will debut on the Belt & Road International Food Expo 2019 (BRIFE 2019), which will act as a direct route for Baijiu brands to break into international markets so as to facilitate unimpeded trade and people-to-people bonds. There will be a series of events specially designed to promote Baijiu in global markets.

Belt & Road Baijiu Cocktail Competition

Supported by Hong Kong Bartenders Association, concurrently held with The Belt & Road International Food Expo, the competition aims at promoting Baijiu and helping it to gain market share in global markets. The event is open to sponsorship. Sponsors will have the chance to advertise their brands and products in front of hundreds of professionals from hotels and catering groups.

Belt & Road Baijiu Cocktail Competition 2019 – Rules & Regulation

  • The competition is open to all professional bartenders in hotels, bars, restaurants, clubs, and casinos in Hong Kong and Macau.
  • The recipe must be an original creation of the competitors.
  • Each contestant is required to create & prepare one Baijiu cocktail according to his/her creativity and the themed cocktail.
  • The main sponsor to be announced, it would be the only Baijiu base to be used.
  • The competitors are free to use any other liqueur, herbs, spice and infused beverage to create their cocktail recipes.
  • Infused beverage must use the sponsor products as spirit base.
  • No more than 6 ingredients in each cocktail recipe.
  • No fire or firework display allowed.
  • Garnish to be prepared on site within 15 minutes before the competition commencement.
  • Time limited at 7 minutes for one original cocktail and five small glass cocktails for tasting juries.
  • Evaluation criteria: Appearance, Aroma, Taste, Creativity, Mixing Skills, Hygiene, and Time Management.
  • Total score is combined with both taste & bartending skills scoring. The top three winners to be awarded cash prize and trophies.
  • The organizer reserves the right of final decision.

The Best Baijiu Tastings & Awards

BRIFE 2019 will host a welcoming dinner and a Baijiu tasting for national ministers, ambassadors to PRC, Consul-Generals, government representatives from over 30 countries. Leaders of chambers of commerce, business elites and mainstream media will also be invited. At the same time, outstanding Baijiu brands will be honored and encouraged to break into global markets.

Baijiu Seminar & Cocktail Networking Reception

In BRIFE 2019, Baijiu seminars and tastings will be held for the purpose of providing a product display platform for Baijiu brands and facilitating trades between Baijiu brands and international buyers. During the seminar, there will be a video session introducing Baijiu and free copies of “Baijiu Recipes & Consumer Guide” will be distributed to the visitors.
